On December 11, 2024, around 6:00 p.m, and again on the morning of December 12, 2024, DRT received complaints of odors in the community. DRT employees working at the plant also detected an odor, but based on its character, determined it was not emanating from DRT.
The flange was tightened this morning at 9:30am and the odors have abated. We will continue to closely monitor the plant and thank the community and its officials for contacting DRT.
On GetToKnowDRT.com, we consistently update our Frequently Asked Questions with the latest information, but we know not everyone has the time to read all the questions and answers. Here is our first edition of DRT Mythbusters!
DRT has completed phase 1 – the most significant stage – and initiated phase 2 of its wastewater system enclosure project. This marks a major step in the company’s ongoing commitment to address any potential odors that may be coming from the facility.
As promised in December, we are committed to being good neighbors in the community by being transparent about what we do and the facility’s operations.
SPRINGFIELD, GA. – City of Springfield and Effingham County officials toured the DRT America Springfield plant to learn more about the facility and its operations.
Last week I had the opportunity to visit Springfield, Rincon, and Effingham County for the very first time. It’s a beautiful area, with wonderful people and a great sense of community.
The Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) will be onsite today (12/5/23) to conduct regular odor monitoring at the DRT facility and in surrounding areas.
DRT America is postponing scheduled maintenance work at our Rincon facility as we work out additional details. We will share another update once we have rescheduled the planned maintenance.
