On December 11, 2024, around 6:00 p.m, and again on the morning of December 12, 2024, DRT received complaints of odors in the community. DRT employees working at the plant also detected an odor, but based on its character, determined it was not emanating from DRT.

DRT America, Inc. (DRTA), retained Trinity Consultants (Trinity) to investigate potential sources of odor at DRTA's Springfield, GA facility located at Governor Treutlen, Dr., Rincon, GA 31326 (Springfield facility). This investigation was intended to assess whether the Springfield facility could be the source of odors affecting the area surrounding the plant.
