We had an odor issue at the DRT Springfield facility this morning caused by a variation in feed stock and today’s dense weather conditions that did not allow the odors to diffuse.
A mechanical seal on a pump at the DRT Springfield facility failed this morning, leaking approximately 10 gallons of a finished product into a concrete secondary containment area.

Last week I had the opportunity to visit Springfield, Rincon, and Effingham County for the very first time. It’s a beautiful area, with wonderful people and a great sense of community.
The Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) will be onsite today (12/5/23) to conduct regular odor monitoring at the DRT facility and in surrounding areas.
