GET TO KNOW CARLOS GONZALEZ, LOGISTICS MANAGER, DRT

Meet Carlos Gonzalez, logistics manager at the DRT Springfield plant. Learn more about his role at DRT and his love for his chosen home in South Georgia.

Can you tell us about your work at DRT?

I’m the logistics manager at DRT America at Springfield, overseeing the inbound and outbound shipments at the plant. That means I analyze what’s going on and make sure we’re working efficiently. My favorite moments are watching a well-planned process unfold after countless moments spent on planning and analysis.

Share a little about your background and what brought you to DRT.

I was born and raised in a small town in Michigan. I slowly fell in love with Georgia’s coast while attending several of my daughter’s events at the Savannah College of Art & Design. I did everything a tourist could before realizing that I could move here! I love the friendly culture and lovely weather in Rincon. When I saw a role in logistics at DRT, it seemed a natural fit with my background in accounting.

Outside of work, what are your hobbies and interests?

I love to read and play music. I enjoy reading Savannah-based stories and always visit the Savannah section at Barnes & Noble. I’ve also played different musical instruments for almost 40 years now. Various percussion instruments, acoustic and electric guitars – even the bass guitar!

Planning trips, attending local concerts and visiting art museums with my daughter are other ways I like to spend my time outside of work. She just graduated from college, and I couldn’t be prouder of her.

How do you give back to your community?

I like volunteering at Habitat for Humanity. They are a nonprofit that helps families build and improve places to call home. I help however I can, from shoveling dirt to painting walls or building a roof.
