Meet Jerry Butler, director of procurement at the DRT Springfield plant. Learn more about his role at DRT and how he colors his life.
Can you tell us about your work at DRT?
I’m the director of procurement at DRT America – I source materials for DRT processes across the country, including those we use here in Springfield.
One of the best parts of my job is working with people from all over the world, like France, Spain and Brazil and getting to learn a lot about their cultures.
Share a little about your background and what brought you to DRT.
I’m originally from Baltimore and went to the University of Mississippi. After graduating, I worked in the paper industry before joining DRT. I’ve been here for eight years now and really like how dynamic the environment is at the plant. It keeps my days interesting and fun.
Outside of work, what are your hobbies and interests?
When I’m not at the plant, I like cooking and working out. They go together – my mom always said I had a strong appetite and, by working out, I can undo the damage I do while cooking in the kitchen. It’s almost like I was supposed to have these two hobbies!
My wife and I are also all about garden life. We have chickens giving us eggs and bees pollinating our vegetables. The bees are so fascinating – watching their process in action is incredible.
