SPRINGFIELD, Ga. – DRT has completed phase 1 – the most significant stage – and initiated phase 2 of its wastewater system enclosure project. This marks a major step in the company’s ongoing commitment to address any potential odors that may be coming from the facility.
Phase 1 focused on bypassing the basins that previously stored process water from the plant’s operations. Going forward, the process water will, like the rest of the plant, be piped through an enclosed system and stored in a closed tank before being transported offsite. DRT has emptied and cleaned the basins to eliminate any residual wastewater and potential associated odors.
Phase 2 is already underway and involves tying the tank to the plant’s emission controls to further minimize potential odors during venting. Though minimal work compared to phase 1, this is the final step to fully contain the process. The company anticipates completing Phase 2 by the end of May.
An earlier version of this post stated DRT expected to complete Phase 2 in April. The estimated timeline for completion is now by the end of May due to increased lead-time for parts.
