Wastewater Basin Phase 1 Complete
DRT has completed phase 1 – the most significant stage – and started phase 2 of its wastewater system enclosure project. This marked a major step in our ongoing commitment to address any potential odors that may be coming from the facility.
- Phase 1 focused on bypassing the basins that previously stored process water from the plant’s operations. Going forward, the process water will be piped through an enclosed system like the rest of the plant.
- Phase 2 is underway and involves tying the tank to the plant’s emission controls to further minimize potential odors during venting. This is the final step to fully contain the process.

Update on Comprehensive Third-Party Odor Evaluation
Trinity Consultants, the engineering firm hired by DRT to evaluate odors in the Springfield/Rincon area, has conducted odor sampling in and around the DRT Springfield facility. Throughout February, Trinity collected odor samples at different times and across various locations, including nearby neighborhoods and schools.
Trinity is set to return to the site to conduct additional odor sampling to ensure comprehensive data collection as they are currently completing an odor dispersion modeling analysis.
