We sat down with Tracye Carico, who works in human resources at the DRT Springfield plant, to learn more about her role at the plant and the personal interests that help fuel her work.
Can you tell us about your work at DRT?
My work at DRT really comes down to supporting people – helping our team members through whatever they encounter so they can be productive in their jobs and maintain a good work-life balance. From providing HR guidance to managers to supporting employees through whatever life situations they find themselves in, I get to have a hand in assisting the people who make up this company.
In the almost two years I’ve been with DRT, I’ve come to value our close-knit, family-focused culture, and how everyone is very supportive of one another. Hands-down, my favorite thing about my job is watching people grow.
Share a little about your background and what brought you to DRT.
While I’m originally from rural Missouri, I’ve lived all over the country – including in California, Iowa, South Carolina and Georgia – which means I’ve been able to work and grow in a bunch of different places.
After graduating with a bachelor’s in psychology from William Woods University, I took a job in an HR department. That ignited my passion for HR and management, so I went back to school to earn a master’s in HR Management from Lindenwood University. I worked in several HR roles before I started working with DRT in 2022.
Outside of work, what are your hobbies and interests?
In our free time, my husband and I love to go cycling. One of our longest and most challenging trips spanned 76 miles across the Florida Keys – it was an incredible experience.
I’ve always been an animal lover and have been fortunate to be involved with helping animals including fostering cats and kittens. In fact, recently, I found a momma and her kittens near the DRT plant – one of which was adopted by a DRT team member!
What’s a motto that you live by?
Life is short – experience stuff! As someone who loves learning and experiencing new things, I’m lucky to wear various hats both within my personal and work life. From growing my own vegetables to sell at the farmers market to fostering kittens to managing my chicken coop at home, there is never a dull moment!
